Lisa fought the urge to throw up. “Guess I have his answer. He just walked out of my life. Damn hat,” she said, throwing the elf hat to the floor. She stood and stretched. “This was a bad idea gone even more bad.”

Meg stood and squeezed Lisa’s hand. “Maybe Bryce needs some time to think, to process. Don’t give up on him yet.”

Lisa shook her head. “He didn’t say one word. He just left.”

“You two do seem to have some problems communicating with words.” Meg winced. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.”

“No, you’re right. We can talk about so many things, but maybe not the most important things when the stakes are high. Well, we might as well get dressed. I’m in no mood for more play. Though it would serve him right.”

“Of course. I assume Bryce has left the building.”

“I thought I heard his car start up. He won’t be back. I couldn’t interpret his non-verbals. For the most part, he hid behind a camera. And then,” Lisa grimaced, “I got so into what we were doing I forgot he was there.”

“It was probably easier for me to track his reactions, as I had less to lose. I’d say he moved from surprise, to curiosity, to shock, to fright.”

“Fright?”

“Fright. I don’t think Bryce knew what to do, once it became clear we weren’t stopping. Maybe he didn’t want to risk losing you by overreacting. At least he didn’t get angry or accusatory.”

“True. That would’ve been out of character. Though we were pushing him, I’m sure.”

“And...” Meg arched an eyebrow.

“And?”

“And he couldn’t hide his lust... for you, maybe for us, maybe for watching two women loving each other. Lisa, you had to notice the hard-on he had. Good God, I though his cock was going to wear a hole through his trousers. Bryce was not an unmoved man. He might’ve tried to be the professional photographer, but we had him so primed I’m amazed he could walk out of here without stumbling over himself.”

Lisa chuckled. “Now that would’ve been a sight.” She picked up the clothing that still littered the floor. “We might as well go get dressed. Not sure I’ll ever hear from him again.” She frowned. “I will need to give him back the key to his apartment, and to get mine back. Maybe you can get it back for me.”

Meg hugged Lisa again before heading toward the dressing room. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Give things a few days. As I said, he may need time to sort things out. I hope you’re not mad at me for being your partner in this farce.”

“No, I’m not mad at you. Not at all.” Lisa patted Meg on the butt. “Without you, I’d still be stuck not being able to tell Bryce what I needed to tell him while dreading a possible ring for Christmas. At least that dilemma has been resolved.”

“Maybe.” Meg cocked her head to the side. “I’ve witnessed how resilient love can be.
